On behalf of the Upland Host Lions Club, we have sponsorships available, for $100, along with Fish Bake tickets $14 adult, $7 under 12. The Fish Bake is being held Friday, August 7, 2009 at 4:30 pm at Memorial Park on Foothill Blvd., in Upland. We will be serving Cod or Steak along with Cole Slaw, Roll and all the Corn on the Cob that you can eat.

All profits benefit different organizations right here in the Upland area. Sponsorships provide eyeglasses to a schoolchild who is sent to us by the school doctor. Thank you in advance for stepping up and helping out.

Members are encouraged to bring family and friends, and this event is open to the entire airport.

Regular member monthly meetings are at 11:30am on the second Saturday of each month (except for this one)

The phone service at the hangar has been discontinued. Everyone has cell phones these days. The best way to contact info for the Chapter is now <info@eaa448.org> or <president@eaa448.org>.

Part—time Cableites Art and Alison Lillis sent a picture from their other home in Alaska. Their 180 spends its time at Sand Lake, Anchorage and while their 210 stays at Cable Airport. Art flies for UPS and is based out of Ontario.

Considering where it is parked…..you ‘suppose’ its on floats??

Once—again Cableite, Ron Snedecor has his Turbo Ximango based at Cable Airport. He was a full time Cable person until about 1976. He says he is really glad to be back here, as there is no place like Cable. Ron retired from flying for Continental Airlines and plans on spending a lot of his time enjoying motoring/gliding in his new toy.

Our used—to—be Cableite is off on another adventure. Many of us watched Alison Gates/Gabel grow up here at Cable Airport, so I try to do my best to keep you up to date with her —only way to put it—adventures.

Alison and Allan are taking a 21 month sabbatical from their flying jobs to sail the 7 seas. I have asked her for permission to share her stories with all of you. They are buying a Catalina Morgan 440, so I let my fingers do the walking and found this ad, so we would have some idea of what their new home may look like. I have asked for pictures so they will be coming. Alison says “We will set up a blog (can’t go cruising without a blog these days) and when we do, we’ll send it on to you so you can be bored and amused by our antics.”

This is the blog that Alison and Allan has set up..................http://www.sailblogs.com/member/flyaweigh/
