FAA says: "Come on pilots....let's get our act together!"

The local Riverside FSDO requests we all pass this information on to our fellow pilots.

Restricted area R-2502A was expanded several months ago. Yet, pilots are blowing through the corner of this area at an incredible rate. The area is well traveled between the Los Angeles basin and the Las Vegas metro area. Those turning the corner to Death Valley can also be in trouble without giving this area some serious navigation consideration.  According to the Los Angeles Sectional Chart, this area is in continuous military use from the surface to 16,000 feet msl. The contact facility is Los Angeles Center.  Try 124.625 or 132.5.

This may be most violated air space in the area, and the FAA is issuing pilot certificate violations at an alarming rate. So please. Do yourself and your fellow pilots a good turn and pass this information on.

Its official, summer is here and Cable Airport and Maniac-Mikes Café hosted their tenth annual Chamber Mixer. At first you may not think that the airport could benefit from such an activity. This mixer is attended by more than 70 people representing 70 businesses in the city. This year we had over 18 representatives that have NEVER been to the airport, let alone the café. Already we are getting these first timers back and they are asking questions about how much does it cost and where to learn to fly, in which case they are sent to see Tony Settember at Foothill Flying Club for more information.

As we head into this summer, remember to drink plenty of water as de-hydration happens very quickly.
