As The Beacon Turns . .

Cableites have been busy with their projects; traveled to the far reaches of the world; joined together in the proverbial search for a fun place to fly for breakfast, brunch, or dinner; and taken that terrifying step into the wild blue yonder, trusting that their many hours of love and labor will hold together until they touch down again. Most of us other Cableites never hear about these adventures or possibilities. Along with other pertinent happenings affecting Cable Airport.…....As The Beacon Turns . . . . . . .

Adventures of Max
—The Sail Cat

And the Fly Aweigh with Alison and Allan

www.sailblogs.com/member/flyaweigh

If you haven’t checked in on the “blog” yet, I would encourage you to do so! If you ever planned a long vacation, Alison’s writing style will grab you by the lapels and you will be right there in the planning stages…..then in the boat with them!! An excerpt from the blog…… “We loaded up Max Cat and some lunch and sailed the boat from Ventura to Marina del Rey on Sunday, a 7 hour sail, or in this case, a motor. (Why is it that the wind is in our face the entire 7 hours north to Ventura, and then in our face the entire 7 hours south to del Rey???) Anyhow, back to Max, who was far happier on the boat than he was on the 10-minute car ride to the boat. He didn't hoark, which he usually does in the first hour of a sail, and happily, he never looked seasick at all. In fact, he seemed quite content, especially after he found a good sleeping spot on the stern bunk.

Another hurdle is the kitty life jacket, which he seems completely incapable of enduring. He waits patiently while we zip and snap the thing on him, and then he takes 2 steps and falls heavily on his side, looking about without moving his head, as though suddenly paralyzed. Admittedly, the life jacket wasn't made for cats, but it seems they don't make life jackets for cats -- so this is the smallest doggie-sized life jacket, which, once he realizes he is not paralyzed, he easily shrugs out of. We'll keep working on that one ... The adventures of Max continue, as do ours.”
