David Lazerson, resident of Tehachapi, CA. flies a SZD-59 (acro) is towed to about 5000 feet above the ground. Once released, he begins his aerial ballet that includes all of the classic aerobatic routines: Cuban eights, slow rolls, inverted flight, the split S, wing overs, clover leafs, loops and slow speed thermal turns. The sailplane has a maximum glide ratio of 36 to 1 (meaning for every 1000 feet of altitude it can glide 7.5 miles forward).
